A soft small sigh escaped at the deflection, but he was still here with her. They were still speaking civilly without the threat of violence. It was progress of a sort. Hopefully she could build upon it and not have it fall to pieces before her.

"I don't see you that way, Ben. You could help the Resistance, yes, but I wouldn't let them force you to do so. I wouldn't let anyone of them use you like Snoke is using you. You mean too much to me."

If she could save her son from Snoke's grasp and if Luke returned, that surely would be a rather large blow against the Order. Yes, the knowledge that he has could be of considerable value but she wouldn't take it from him by force. She wouldn't stoop that low against her own child.

"Ben? I haven't been Ben in years," Kylo scoffs. Still, it affects him for his mother to call him by name and he closes his eyes, trying to will away the emotions. It's different with her. His father had none of the Force within him, did not understand what he was going through at all. His mother...his mother gave him the Force.

"How do you know I could be Ben Solo again?"

"You'll always be Ben to me." She replied with a quiet conviction. "You may call yourself by another name and try to use it to distance yourself from your past, but you can always come back to who you used to be."

She wanted to close the distance between them, to touch him once more. Part of her wanted to take the chance and see if she might benefit from showing her son she is not afraid of what he might do to her, despite his prior actions toward his father. Part of her knew it for a fool's gamble and that she shouldn't risk her life in such a manner. She's still needed by the Resistance, her loss would be a considerable blow to them currently.

Yet if she succeeded here, she'd deal a considerable blow to the Order and have her son back.

"My father...redeemed himself. If he could return to being Anakin Skywalker once more, you can be Ben again."

Kylo has a very skewed view of his grandfather. Lord Vader had been one of the greatest Siths of all time and he had done much to help unite the galaxy under the rule of the Empire. He only failed because of his love for his children, the weakness that allowed Luke Skywalker to defeat him.

"Love is a weakness," he says harshly. Still, it doesn't change the fact that he does feel love for his mother. He thinks that a part of him, no matter how small, will always feel love for Leia Organa.

"That's what Snoke wants you to believe." She replied, deciding on going through with the gamble. She stepped forward, closing the remaining distance between them, lifting a hand to rest it gently over one of her son's arms. She hoped the gesture of trust and affection would break through better than her words had so far.

"I still love you and I don't consider that love a weakness."

Kylo almost shies away from the touch, startled that she would touch him. She would touch him even after what he's done and what he's become?

"I've gone too far. I can't come back from where I am now, you know that. Look inside you, Mother, you know it to be true."
